I’ve been working on producing some sheets to help organize the assessment of Year 3 MFL students based on the learning objectives of the KS2 Framework for Languages.
The sheets cover the main KS3 Year 3 objectives for Oracy, Literacy and Intercultural Understanding.
I’ve included both student and teacher assessment ideas so that both sides of assessment is covered. They are totally free, I’ve included a link to the download at the bottom of the post. I haven’t added any references to the Languages Ladder or other methods of assessment so you’re free to add your own marking scheme.
The first set of sheets are in both .docx and .pdf format and I’ve split up the objectives into separate documents for the different skills so separate sheets for Oracy, Literacy and Intercultural Understanding.
For a whole class mark book (in .docx and .pdf format) to show attainment in all of the skills on one page I’ve made the following sheets. They are aligned with the MFL Year 3 objectives but one uses simple sentences that can be given to a parent or child and the other uses the wording from the KS2 MFL Framework Learning Objectives. You can download a copy of the framework here.
For individual students I’ve made some ‘I can..’ statements both in simple and exact framework wording. These can be used to give to students so parents can see progress or just to keep a record of each child in the class in one place. I sometimes think the wording is too ‘adult’ for them so I’ve tried to interpret the wording but as they are editable it would be great to see other people’s examples, just link to them in the comments.
Finally I wanted to have the information in excel format to allow sharing with colleagues so there is also a sheet in excel format.
